Gifted

Gifted [gif-tid]
adjective
  1. having great special talent or ability: the debut of a gifted artist.
  2. having exceptionally high intelligence: gifted children.

noun
  1. a homo sapien sapien of special talent or ability, especially one who exemplifies or exceeds the pinnacle of human capability in one or more areas: that gifted can hit the target with an arrow from a mile away.

Once the term prodigy started to be used to refer to those who could not entirely be classified as homo sapien sapien, a new term to reference humans of exceptional skill was needed. The popular term of gifted was updated to include the naming or referencing of people as a noun. Ted, a shortened form of gifted, is used as a derogatory term usually by homo sapien prodigious separatists: Those Teds should just shut up and let us rule.
