Apollo System

23 Librae
Yellow dwarf, 1.05 Solar Masses
Constellation of Cancer, 41 LY

Icarus Asteroid Belt (.39 AU) - Iron-rich, semi-molten asteroid belt
Morpheus (.67 AU) - Hot greenhouse gas world
Hestia (1.16 AU) - Clammy but inhabitable world
Poseidon (1.71 AU) - An icy, deadly sea. Moons: Neleus, Paliaus
Hebe (5 AU) - A tiny frozen rock prophesying the gas giants
Zeus (5.24 AU) - Red and gold gas giant with elaborate gold rings,
Hera (8.38 AU) - yellow-green gas giant spotted with storms
Persephone (14.25 AU) - small blue-green gas giant with an eccentric orbit
Nyx (24 AU)- Tiny frozen hydrogen planet, a collapsed gas giant toward the edge of the solar system.

Icarus Asteroid Belt: A dense asteroid belt, possibly the metallic core of an earth world that orbited too near Apollo. Temperatures around 400(C) degrees. Some of the more metallic asteroids have been attenuated into long spears of metal ore, a rich, but possibly fatal, harvest for prospectors.

Morpheus: A greenhouse world with a lead-melting surface temperature of 1300(F). Morpheus is a sullen shimmering red-gold.

Hestia: Perhaps Hestia's discoverers were overly optimistic. Certainly it is capable of sustaining life, and its white ring has been favorably compared to a necklace on a goddess's neck--most poets give up on the comparison after having lived there for a year. The planet is clammy at best, a cool 14(C)/57(F) on average. The winters are blisteringly cold, as the shadow of the planet's rings--the remnants of a destroyed moon--pulls most of the light from the already cloudy sky. Some have suggested "Hades" might be a better name--at least during the winter.

Local life tends toward the durable and quickly-regenerating, with hardy plants, sporophytes (large, predatory sporophytes), a host of biting airborn critters (plants and animals both). Durable reptiles make up the bulk of the animal life, reaching their apex in the Ranari, a tribe of tool-using, vaguely centaur-like lizard-amphibians mostly called "frogs" by non-native earthers. Ranari are quite capable of using more advanced tools, including grenades and energy weapons, when they can find them. This is but one of the many charms Hestia has to offer.

Other joys of life on Hestia are the unavoidable mold, a by-product of the 105% humidity saturating the air; tiny, burrowing, provision-seeking lizards; and an oxygen-saturated environment guaranteed to knock out asthmatics, burn mucus membranes, cause hyperventilation, and would almost certainly cause flames to flare up and burn off your eyebrows, if anything actually burned on the damned planet. Enjoy your stay!

Poseidon: An icy ocean of a world, kept (barely) liquid by steaming volcanoes. The atmosphere is a near-toxic, suffocating mix of C02 and nitrogen. A gleaming blue-white diamond in the sky.

Hebe: A small ball of frozen nitrogen--radioactive decay keeps its core molten, or at least warm enough to melt nitrogen, which isn't honestly saying much.
