How to: create links in the Journal to the wiki?

I may be 'just not getting it'. Having written my first two journal posts for our campaign, I noticed that the characters are linked in the journal. I have attempted to create wiki entries, with links and titles to NPCs mentioned in the Journal post, and cannot find a way to do that. Please enlighten if there is a way, or take it as a feature request if not. Thanks for all the great work Epic Words!

I just figured it out, creating links to Wiki and Reference heading in the Journal.

Sorry if I cost you time.

Not a problem. I'm sorry I wasn't able to answer you more promptly.

For anyone else looking here for the answer:

Links to player characters are automatically generated by the system. When a new journal post is created we look for PC names and link to their character page.

To create links to wikis and references, follow this format (minus the spaces in between):
[ [ wiki title ] ]
{ { reference key word } }

The nicest part is the wiki and references don't have to exist when writing up your journal post (or wiki or reference). If the wiki/reference doesn't exist yet, the link will be red, and clicking that link will create it for you.

I'm no master of wikis, so could you explain how the reference key words work? I get how you would link to it in the journal, but how do you designate a reference key word in the 'master' wiki page?

Actually, finding this post cleared it up:

Seems they're two separate ideas.

There will eventually be a big push for us to document the distinctions between wikis and references (as well as many of the other cool features of the site). For now, I'll repost what was stated in the other thread:

A reference is meant to only have one or two lines of description for a specific entity (person, place, thing). Keywords will be automatically linked to the reference when they appear on various pages in a campaign.
Wikis are intended to cover broader subjects at length. We do not automatically link to wikis. However, this may change some day. I see these two features merging into one less confusing feature.

Glad I read this... cause this always confused the hell out of me. I really need to clean some things up since I have some "wiki-like" references out there.

I agree that they should be merged, but meantime, the practical differences usually favor references over wiki entries.
  • References are linked automatically, and the short definition appears as a tooltip of sorts when you hover over the reference.
  • Wikis entries track changes and have a unique url.
