Campaigns: Wikis: Display issues occur on the References tab with multiple list items when opening or closing list tags are omitted.

Steps
* Requires user has a previously created campaign
  1. From the Dashboard of said campaign, select Wikis
  2. Select the References tab
  3. Select Add Reference
  4. Fill in any required details, ensuring to paste the following into the Details section (replace parenthesis with brackets to create a poorly-structured bulleted list):

  5. (*)Test
    Test

  6. Save the Reference, and observe that the References tab will display things that shouldn't be there.

Bug:
Display issues occur on the References tab with multiple list items when opening or closing list tags are omitted. This issue manifests on the References tab of the Wikis page, and does not appear while viewing the preview of the change which will cause this issue. The user will notice placement issues around the entry possessing the qualities mentioned in the Steps, but display issues can occur in multiple places surrounding the div section in question on the page.

This issue does not occur on the NPCs tab. This issue does not occur if the user enters one list item in a field.

This issue also occurs when the specified code is entered into the GM Details field. On the Quests tab, this issue renders the Quest uneditable (clicking edit will not open the editor).

This issue also occurs if the user has entered the following into the editor (replace parenthesis in the code block with brackets):
(*)Test
(*)Test

Additional Behavior
  • The additional details appears even when the + button is showing.
  • Selecting the + button expands a second instance of said details. (see screenshot, orange boxes)

Expected Behavior
The option to make a bulleted list with no LIST tags around it shouldn't be allowed. Alternatively, such lists are displayed correctly.

Tester Comments
These are the best steps I am willing to narrow down using a Free account, since I can create only one campaign and I don't want to delete my campaign just to test more; I would do this normally (get you 100% steps from a fresh account - I used to test software for Electronic Arts) just to see if this occurs with a brand new campaign and account, but luckily I discovered the workaround and hopefully save others the same problem.

Annnnd..I was bored so I wrote a detailed bug report.

I have had this happen before. It may have to do with the * or
  • not being inside a [list] or the last * or [*] item not ending with the enter or next line. It has been a while but it is not the campaign. It is the formatting revolving around the * if memory serves me well.

This issue does not occur on the NPCs tab
This issues does occur on the NPCs tab. The steps are more involved, in that the user must add an NPC, then add another NPC, then edit the previous NPC and follow the Steps I provided. If you want a separate set of steps for that then let me know.

Nice! Thanks for the detailed report. There have been quite a few bugs surrounding the formatting of [ * ] tags. This is partly because it doesn't use an end tag (like [/*]) and partly because of the nested lists that are used for NPCs and Quests. I'll take a look at it this week and see if I can resolve this.
@Mark, if you really want to create a second campaign for testing purposes, send me a PM.

Nope, not that bored yet - but if I find another bug it might push me over the edge. :)
