On the Dawn Star
As the group made their way South down the Dawn Star they encountered a tipped over supply transport, and a women downed next to it. Rygar, wasting no time, ran forward to see if she was breathing. The rest of the group drew their weapons in anticipation of a trap, as they eased forward toward the supply cart. Suddenly, a drove of kobold jumped out from every direction! Carrying many minor and crude implements they attacked the adventuring group with audacity; completely surrounding Rygar. He was on the brink of death when Arannis used his Eladrin connection with the Feywild to supernaturally step Rygar out of the way just in time for his icy blast. Sola realized that one of the kobolds had retreated to a nearby cave.
After they cleaned up the mess left by the Kobold troops, the party rested overnight before entering the cave. Sola snuck out in the middle of the night to head back to Lotholeen in order to help the survivors migrate south to Farthane. Vergil, Rygar, and Arannis decided they would enter the cave and extinguish any threats remaining, so they would be sure none of the survivors migrating this way would be harmed.
Coming to the mouth of the scorched cave, Vergil looked around to collect some alchemy materials, while Arannis examined the entrance, and together they ventured in. The cave seemed to be mostly cleared out except for a few kobold skirmishers hiding in the shadows. Strange drawings of symbols and birds lined the cave walls, none easily recognizable by any of the group. As they pushed forward, they came upon two dead travelers who had died from severe burns. They noted one of them was a famed traveler who had collected many things and wrote a log of his adventures. Across the cave on the far wall stood a coffin shaped portal to the fire elemental plane where a large flaming birdlike elemental stood. It lunged at the group and the battle lasted what seemed like several hours before Arannis was finally able to submerge the elemental in a pool of water. Rygar found a sword that was forged using this elemental passageway, and the group left for the Dawn Star and continued South toward Farthane.
