Prayer
My Lady, I am lost. The city is in ashes. Our once great kingdom lies in ruin and chaos. I am no mere simpleton; I know the doctrine of our faith:

Out of my ashes
will raise a new civilization.
A beautiful kingdom
returning from chaos
proving once again
that order is eternal.
I live forever
because the city
never dies.
I will return
in another body
in another time,
but it is me.
The me who is me now
will always be.
As long as I live,
I learn.
And I live
F o r e v e r

I see now that we are to die. As Hestavar is risen and fallen, so too is the Nerathi kingdom. We have become corrupt. Devils hold more power than priests; lords and ladys ignore the will of the church; the schemers hide behind a wall of piety.

If it is your will that we fall, I will see it through. I meet chaos on the battlefield tomorrow with Templar in tow. We will sacrifice ourselves in your name, my lady.

I ask only one favor of you. Zanne is a good man. I love him as the brother I would never know. He has stumbled on his path, though he does so in protection of our lives. Please judge him on his actions throughout his life, not just the ones that led unto his death.

"Prayer" is a poem adapted from Carmen Columbo's Phoenix (Rising).
