Tax

Tax
"OK, Boss."
User: Adam
Campaign: Carrion Crown
Race: Ophiduan
Gender: Male
Role: Striker
Class: Puppy4/Bear1
Description:
Character sheet lives here.

Tax is a reptilian humanoid, possibly a scrawny lizardfolk, though his build suggests "velociraptor" more than "lizard". He might just be a large kobold, for that matter.

His skin is tannish brown with faint green stripes. His eyes are yellow, and rarely blink.

He wears studded leathers made from crocodile hide, though in this cold northern climate he's bundled up in furs most of the time.

He generally sits still and silent unless there is something to do, in which case he does it quickly and without complaint.
Background:
The ophiduan are a peaceful tribe of lizardfolk, living on an island off the coast of Sargava. They were discovered by the Bonuwat, whom didn't find the tribe noteworthy other than for occational trade. This changed a few years ago, when a professor named Lorrimor hired a Bonuwat ship to take him to the island. He was following rumors of some new power that the ophiduan were able to manifest.

The Professor spent some time there, studying, learning, and also teaching. When he was getting ready to leave, his worst student, Tax, asked to come along.

Hatched on 15 Gozran, aka Taxfest, Lorrimor dubbed this one Tax because ophiduan names are otherwise unpronouncable. Tax always paid attention to the lessons, and was usually able to memorize and repeat what he was told; He just never bothered to understand any of it. Regardless, he was fascinated by the Professor's stories of travel and wanted in on that action.

The Professor knew Tax was far from scholar material, but he was a very nimble and perceptive lad, and a fast runner. There is a useful line of ..um.. "work" for folks with those talents, and it's good to have someone in that "business" that you can trust. So Lorrimor agreed, and they traveled together for some time. Tax picked up a few useful skills, a few seedy skills, and after much prodding eventually learned to read (though rarely did so).

A lizard of few words, Tax wasn't much for conversation; He did, however, have a knack of asking simple questions that made the Professor think twice about things. He also had a knack for spotting and reacting to trouble, and saved the Professor's hide more than once.

When Lorrimor left for home, he left Tax behind; his exploring days were over (for now), but the young ophiduan still had much of the world to see. They kept in touch via the Bonuwat ship that they used for exploration, and it was through them that Tax heard of his mentor's passing. He quickly left to attend the funeral. There is something called a "will" that has to happen, and then hopefully he'll finally have the chance to explore his old friend's homeland, Ustalav.
