The Search For Lynn Yao
The campaign starts with all the characters in Seattle for whatever reason they have. Lex McCloud is in Seattle looking for work. Jake O'Connor is operating his buisness in Seattle while looking for running work, which he enjoys doing on the side. Hex is in his burned out mechanics shop training. Scruffy is seeking sanctuary in Seattle during a pilgrimage that he is currently embarking on. Rico Suave is in Seattle looking for running work to build his local reputation. Mr. Grey is at home waiting for work and needs a new running group due to the disbanding of his last group. Guizzy, Mr. Gray's contact, calls Mr. Grey about a job in New York that with a new group of runners. Mr. Grey accepts the job and Guizzy contacts the remaining characters with a text message telling them all to meet him at 5283 3rd Street. The characters all arrive at roughly the same time and a few of the characters start talking among themselves as Mr. Grey and Rico enter the building. Jake quickly enters the matrix and checks for cyberware on the other characters, but doesn't notice anything specific other than the building has more nodes that it should. Guizzy, a dwarf, sticks his head out thr door and yells for the other characters to get into the building. Once in side, the characters notice the bulding is actually a warehouse full of different goods, such as electronics, guns, etc. Guizzy addresses the group regarding a contract to find Lynn Yao. Lynn Yao was a member of the White Lotus triad of Colorado, but is now on the run from the triad and believed to be in New York. The contract is to find Lynn Yao, preferably alive and take her to a Johnson whom you will contact once you are in New York. The finders fee is 1500 newyen, which the group does not negotiate, which also includes 500 newyen for expenses per player but does not cover transportation. Guizzy then gives each player a UACS patch for their comm links, which gives them a visitors pass into UACS territory. The players settele any buisness they have in Seattle and meet up in the morning to leave for New York. Scruffy is driving his smuggler's van, which includes a rooftop gun port and smuggler compartments, with Hex and Jake. Mr. Grey dirves his car, which includes a lockdown back seat, with Rico and Lex. As the group is driving along a road on the edge of a mountain in the outskirts of Seattle they notice a motorcycle coming up fast behind them with the sounds of a few more behind him. Rico notice three more bikers join the first biker as the group starts to overtake the group. The bikers split into two groups with two on each side of Mr. Grey's car with the front two being even with the rear end of the car. Rico rolls down the window and hangs his upper body out the car and fires his handgun at the bikers and misses them completely. Mr. Grey decides to try and ram the biker on the passanger side of the car into the guard rail.Mr. Grey swerves the car towards the guard rail slamming the first biker into the guard rail causing him to wipeout in front of the second biker who fails to avoid the first biker and crashes into him. Hex begins firing his automatic machine gun from the gun port of the van and misses the remaining two bikers. Lex then conjures an invisible wall to the left of Mr. Grey's car a few yards in front of the remaining bikers. As Lex is conjuring the barrier Mr. Grey slams of the brakes to drop behind the remaining bikers slamming Rico into the frame of the car and back into his seat, while Hex continues firing at the bikers and instead is hitting the invisible barrier causing Lex to struggle to keep the barrier up during the barrage of bullets and Scruffy switches lanes and drops back to be even with the remaining bikers. As Scruffy drops along side the bikers, Jake has entered the matrix and has been attempting to data bomb the biker's comm link and eventually succeeds in blocking the comm links with a looped recording of Konnichiwa preventing the bikers from contacting the rest of the gang members. Rico points his gun at the windshield and fires at the biker nearest the front of the car, which completely destorys the windshield as he misses the bikers. The first biker along the passenger side of Mr. Grey's car then slams into the invisible barrier knocking the barrier out and promptly gets run over by Mr. Grey, while the last biker avoids the wreck and continues driving along the road while trying to figure out why his comm link is being barraged with the repeated message. Suddenly Lex casts a lightning bolt towards the last motorcycle and hits the vehicle causing a huge explosion of body parts and vehicle parts. Mr. Grey continues to drive and dodges some of the remains of the last biker that comes through the open area that used to hold the windshield. A huge piece of the dead biker's torso comes flying towards Rico at almost 90 mph, which he doesn't even notice heading at him, and hits Rico so hard that the passenger door latch fails allowing Rico and the torso to fly out of the passenger door of the car and roll down the road (P.S.A. remember to always wear your seatbelt). Mr. Grey stops the car and checks on Rico who is stunned but not too badly hurt. The character regroup and continue towards New York until they hit the UACS border. The boder includes a checkpoint with a couple guard posts with mounted guns on the top of the posts. The customs guards allowed Mr. Grey's car through without any hassle. However, as Scruffy's van approaches the checkpoint the guards wave them to the side. As the guards approach the vehicle the players try to stash their weapons and illegal gear into the smuggler compartments, but only Hex is able to find a compartment to store his gear as the other two players fumble along the floorboards of the van. The guards get to the van and order all the players out of the vehicle. As the players get out of the van Jake begins to talk in Japanese and Hex notices a car on the other side of the checkpoint is engulfed in flames with the remaning guards attention focused on the blaze. The guard quickly calls to one of the guard posts, "Hey Bill I need your help.". As a third guard starts coming towards the van, Jake quickly enters the matrix unnoticed, infiltrates the guard posts, sets off the alarms, and then exits the matrix. All the guards rush towards the guard posts and the burning vehicle trying to figure out what the hell is going on, while the players try to take advantage of the distraction to hide the remaining gear into the smugglers compartments, which they still can't manage to find enough of the compartments to stash all the gear leaving a vehicle motor in plain sight behind the back seats of the van. A few moments later the three guards start to return towards the van causing Jake to start runing a circle around the van while screaming in Japanese. As Jake is finishing his lap around the van he runs into one of the guards who turns and shoots Jake in the shoulder. Jake then starts to yell at the guard in Japanese why did you shoot me, I'm the Japanese ambassador! The guard starts to panic because he has shot an unarmed man, which could cause him his job. He checks on Jake's injuries, steps back, and waves the group through. The players quickly jump into the van and drive away. As the players drive between the guard posts they notice on a tv in one of the posts an interview with the Japanese ambassador. The players regroup a little ways past the checkpoint and continue to New York without any additional setbacks. As the group enters New York, the Johnson for the contact contacts the players and tells them to meet him at a bar called the Lazy Dragon on 5th Street. The group gets to the Lazy Dragona and enters the establishment. The bar is empty except for the bartender and a man sitting alone in a booth. The players scatter and sit apart from each other as Hex walks up to the man in the booth. Hex approaches the man and asks if the man is their contact. The man asks a contact for what. At that point Jake uses his comm link to message the Johnson to inform him the group has arrived at the bar. A moment later the man at the booth takes out a comm link and yells at the players to get over to his booth, while the bartender chuckles to himself. As Rico enters the booth with the Johnson and the other players, he switches his cybereyes to record the conversation unknowingly to the other players or the Johnson. The first thing the Johnson tells the group is never scare a man that way again and then continues with the briefing. The Johnson has heard that Yao may be hiding in a bar called The Elder a few blocks from here and that she has some form of unknown protection. The bartender of The Elder dislikes the triads, but little else is known of the establishment. The Johnson also tells the group the information is about a month old. Once the Johnson finishes, Rico goes to the bar to talk with the bartender. The bartender gives Rico a free drink and they talk for a little bit. Rico asks the bartender about the triads and then asks him about The Elder, which the bartender knows nothing the triads, but knows that mostly Italians, Orcs, and Trolls are seen entering The Elder. As Rico talks is talking with the bartender, he notices a camera in a corner of the bar that seems to be focused specifically on the group. Rico then takes his beer, thanks the bartender, and returns to the booth. As Rico is returning to the booth, he uses his comm link to inform only the players about the camera in the bar and suggests that Lex use his astral form to scope the rest of the bar. As Lex enters the astral plane, the Johnson notices what he is doing and makes a signal to the barkeeper, which Lex notices the barkeeper then quickly hit a button under the bar. Lex returns to his body and quickly tells the group we need to leave now. As the players are leaving the bar the Johnson yells to them "Remember you have a contractual obligation." Once the players are outside Lex informs them that the bartender hit a button below the bar and the players load into their vehicles. Once the players are in their cars, a group of four black cars pull up and a group of men dressed in suits enter the bar. The players quickly drive away and decide to let some time pass before going to The Elder. Mr. Grey takes his car to a windshield repair shop and demands that Rico pay for the repairs. Rico talks Mr. Grey down to half the cost and gladly hands him 100 newyen. The players then drive to The Elder and park near the establishment. While still in the car Lex enters the astral plane to investigate the building. He notices at least four humanoid forms in the bar as well as the bartender and a door leading to a staircase, wherein the door and the staircase are surrounded by a magical ward. Lex tries to dispell the ward a couple times but fails. While Lex is scoping out the building Jake enters the matrix and notices a bright node. Jake hacks into the node and attempts to analyze the node but fails on each attempt. During his last attempt, Jake unknowingly trips an alarm causing the humanoid forms to take defensive positions near all the windows and doors, while Lex notices a group of three humanoids, one extremely smaller than the other, come running out from somewhere behind the bar and into an alley running along the side of the bar towards the players vehicle. Lex quickly returns to his body as Mr. Grey notices that the three people running down the alley seem to be two large armed body guards and a third smaller woman. Jake continues to try and hack the node in the matrix and accidentally sets off a security protocol that locks down the establishment locking all the doors and covering all the windows with metal shutters that slam down in front of the windows. As the security protocol is activated Mr. Grey exits the vehicle and fires at one of the body guards and hits the guard who quickly falls to the ground in a large amount of pain. Hex exits the van, draws his sword, and runs towards the guards. Ya panics and runs back towards the bar without noticing the bar has been locked down. Rico exits the car and runs past the guards unnoticed. Lex attempts to cast an invisible barrier to separate the guards from Rico and Yao but fails. Mr. Grey attacks the guards again but fails to kill either. Hex runs up to the first guard and slashes him in half then turns and cuts the second guard in half as well. Before Yao can realize what is happening, Rico quickly pulls out two tranq. patches and slaps them onto Yao knocking her out instantly. The players take Yao, place her in the back seat of Mr. Grey's car with Lex, and activiate the locking compartment to prevent any possible escape attempts if Yao awakens.... To Be Continued........
