Over a thousand years have passed since uncontrollable magic cracked the world to its core, releasing hordes of unholy creatures. Thrust together as allies, the civilized races banded together to fight off this common threat. In the end, only a few straggling demons and devils escaped and a peace grew newly planted in Agranor, the Ageless Empire.

The surviving practitioners of Sortilege, Arcane Arts, founded the Sortilege Society in Edinburgh, hoping to gather knowledge and support security and peace for all time. They created the Dragonborn, a noble race combining the noble traits of dragons with a human form; powerful, resistant to corruption, a bastion against the return of darkness.

The Draconic Knighthood arose in power and popularity. Its members patrolled the skies on Dragonback, pushing back the frontier and making the lands safe for settlers. Time and again, the Dragon Knights and their loyal companions have united to repel deadly threats to the Empire. Their numbers, never over one hundred, fell to a mere dozen in battle

Dark Labyrinths
We ventured out of Sanctuary once again, to travel to the ancient labyrinth ruins that once served as the home of the minotaurs. Long lost to the pages of history, the minotaurs have left a great treasure of knowledge and artifacts behind, for those who are brave enough to seek them. We have been brought to this place to find the slave dealers who have been kidnapping local beings and selling them in the markets below the Darkness.

Upon first entering the mazes, we overheard someone threatening a smallish creature. When we investigated, we discovered a room with vicious slavers beating up a helples, but long-winded, halfling. We easily took them out to rescue the seemingly helpless creature. Our simple task of dispatching some less-than-humane monsters, quickly became an epic tale of heroism and bravery, as we found that the little one we rescued was the owner of the Half-Moon Inn. The Inn is a place frequented by most of the inhabitants of the Seven Pillared Hall, a sort of halfway point from the surface of 'civilization' and the Underdark. The owner, grateful for our stepping in to save him, graciously provided us room and board for our stay here in the Hall.

We thought we would have to maintain a low profile, to keep hidden while scouting around for information, but the Seven Pillared Hall is home to a vastly eclectic mix of races. You would think a fight would be breaking out every few minutes, but the peace is governed by some wizards who also inhabit the Hall. Their peace is enforced by a gigantic brute named Brug. Kaiwren, with her silver tongue, has been able to win him over, which is a good thing because I would NOT want to meet this one in a dark alley. As long as we maintain the law of not starting trouble in the Hall itself, we will remain on Brug's good side.

I must go. We are going to make our first exploration of the labyrinth, so everyone needs to rest and prepare. I will add more once we return.

If we return...

A puzzle and more
Gwyndolwyn told us of her dream, that man, Kiras' and Kithri's "mentor," she said that she dreamed of being hunted by him and that her mother's voice told her that should she ever come across the man that she should kill him. What to do? Some strange moral dilemma overcame me during our last encounter with him. Should I kill him simply because of another person's dream? I would gladly leave him to die as he did us, but to kill him when I have no other evidence of his deserving death than the fact that he is a coward and a scoundrel. I waited for her to strike but she did not. I think it should be hard to kill another human when you have not seen with your own eyes why he should die, but I would have aided her had she chosen to attack him. Was it mercy that made her hesitate? Only Gwyn knows. I believe our paths will cross with this man again, until then I will be sleeping a bit lighter and looking over my shoulders a bit more often.

On a brighter note, we did gain some interesting trinkets from our last dire predicament. Sadly, I did not get to choose, damn my curiosity. It fell into place in my mind before the rings came together into one piece and it bonded to me. I don't know what it does exactly, but it is urging me to fight. This is most unfortunate, I am not some slash and hack brute, rather I am more strategic and prefer to keep my enemies at bay. This does not bode well for my ensuing relationship with this ring. Kithri tells me it is an artifact that belonged to a giant king; perhaps the giants will have a use for it and will reward me for returning it to them. I must find a library or a sage who can tell me more and perhaps also find a way to quiet it. I should probably learn to speak the giant tongue as well, it may be useful in the future.

I think I will also learn that horrific language spoken by the fire demon before we killed it. It...the language...felt familiar.

Meet Kaiwren
My name is not important. I am not important. I am but a player in the game that cruel fate has thrust upon me. I was born to suffer the curse of my ancestors, left on the roadside like a piece of trash, unwanted, inconvenient, an afterthought. T’was fate that cursed me with this life and fate that again cursed me when I was found and cared for by a family of the fair-folk, elves.

To this day I wonder what inspired such beautiful and graceful people to take in such as myself. I grew up in the shadow of their beauty, both loving and hating them for their kindness, their beauty, their grace. The fire burned in my soul, the guilt brought me nightmares and the only peace that I found was to wander into the wild, under the moon and stars, far away from the cradle of sleep and the wild, disquieting dreams that it brought.

The nightmares and the anguish became too much for me to bear; I chose to end my cursed existence. Painful and heavy, the emptiness of my heart, the fullness of the moon it all seems a dream from a different time now. I only remember awakening in a silver glade surrounded by rune-marked stones with a memory of feeling the softest touch upon my eyelids as though I had been gently and lovingly kissed upon each of them. The self-imposed wounds were healed and I felt different somehow, the fire of my spirit was intertwined with the power the Fey.

I had never known of the Fey other than the bed-time stories told by my adoptive parents but I knew as surely as I knew my own name that I had been chosen by the Maiden of the Moon. She chose me! I was reborn that day to serve her purpose, but first I had to master the power that she granted me. I have left the safety of Sanctuary and my kind, painfully beautiful adoptive family to hone my skills and kill every evil, murderous thing I encounter along the way.

Kithri's first chapter...
Kithri the Sage

I was born thirty-eight years ago in a small town outside of Edinburgh in Scotland- Eirenotz Stronghold. Although I was birthed there, I cannot remember much about my youth for some reason. My memory are holds mostly my studies in religion and arcane ability. As an adolescent halfling, I had always admired anything that looked old and as if it had a long, drawn out story to tell. Artifacts and relics usually occupied my time in place of friends and family. I also spent much of my time as a student of the earth- I have a strong connection with nature; I usually only explore the areas around Edinburgh for fear of being attacked by a hostile creature. This made, and still makes, finding new artifacts to study difficult for me. Typically, my work in Edinburgh has consisted of individuals relying on my book knowledge on history and prior research on relics to decipher the tales of their artifacts. I have lived a life of solitude and tend to stick with those whom are familiar to me. This is comfortable and I did not wish to adventure outside of that comfort zone.
Upon the star-crossed meeting of Keloran Longfinger, he wanted information one of the greatest treasures I have ever studied- The Brittle Tapestries of Zevon the Great. Keloran was seeking information urgently and he had already found some of the pieces, which of course I studied. I knew that piecing together the full tapestry would require an advanced ritual- which I did not have. Keloran gave me the scroll the day after a dear friend passed on. I began working on locating the pieces immediately and discovered them in the Eastern lying mountainous land- the Wyldlands. Keloran left after provisions. I really missed him. Although the relationship between was on a professional level, I truly enjoyed his company and became fond of him. After three years of Keloran being gone, he found the rest of the pieces, lost some of the originals and I was instructed that he would contact me again but if the contact failed, to find Kiras Dawnblade, his apprecntice.

Meet Gwyn
My name is Gwyndolywyn Corvinius, but everyone calls me Gwyn. I was born in Sanctuary, and it has been my home for the entirety of my life. I am 19 years old now, and have not seen much of the world. My life up until now has pretty much been one of quiet studies in the town library, where I spend time with Trillian, learning from her knowledge as well as the books that seem to be older than the dust on the highest shelves. I also used the small forest outside of the town gates as another library. The books I read there were the leaves in the trees and I listened to the birds and squirrels teach the ways of nature. There was one squirrel that I coaxed into eating foaming candy so I could chase him through town to keep my friend Draco on his toes. He's a town guard, but I don't know what he guards against. Nothing ever happens here.

My parents live in Edinburgh, where they are prominent members of the sortilige society. Highly skilled at the magical arts, they were frequently sought-after for various help with....well, magical stuff. I don't know much about that, but there are times that I feel a pull towards things magick. But then I hear the call of my chosen goddess, the Raven Queen. I feel that she leads me to where I need to be, and keeps me from harm.

My parents left shortly after I was born, and the family that raised me has always made me feel like one of their own. Thomas and Gyrandala, my father and mother, visit me about once every two years. They're job in Edinburg is very important and keeps them very busy and traveling throughout the year. In fact, I can see the places they've traveled, or at least the cultural dress from the places they've seen, because every time they come to see me, my father brings me a figurine of a dancing girl dressed in the local garb. It is my most valuable posession. One time, when my parents came to visit, we had a picnic on the lake. My father made a rope swing into the lake and we all had a great time.

I really enjoy the people around me. I have learned a lot from Trillian, who knows just about everyone in town. And Kaiwren. She's a person you definitely want on your good side. I'm sure she can be a real thorn to someone she decides not to like. She's the one that helped me with the squirrel to bother Draco. And Draco, well, he's always been like a big brother to me. He watches out for me, and I know that he'll always be there...if anything ever happens, that is. Don't think anything will ever happen, however. Sanctuary is pretty quiet.
